The Dole.

Since finishing school I’ve relaxed, had time off and now I’m looking for work. Well today I had an interview. By today I really mean yesterday seeing as this will be post in what is technically ‘Saturday’. So sit back and listen to my tale…

It all started the day before, due to certain restrictions my ‘cellular-phone’ was turned off as I was driving - hence I missed a call. Later I received an electronic mail, requesting my presence at 9:15 am the next day. My reply was along the lines of ‘Sure I can come’. So I went.

As I drove to the place of my interview I wondered what would happen… it turns out not much. I got there, parked, knocked on the glass door which was coated so I couldn’t see in. Then almost by magic the door opened, you see it was almost magic as it was actually being opened by a worker, letting me in.

I took a seat, was asked many pages of questions. The modern day interrogation. Then - it was finished.

So I went home.

The End.

In other news ‘The Simpsons’ is going to be one of the longest running American prime time television shows. It’s been going longer than I’ve been alive. Fancy that.

Literature.

I don’t know about you but personally I enjoy reading. My most read genre would have to be science fiction, fantasy or thriller (im a big fan of space epics). Still the books I enjoy the most aren’t in this style at all. The classics sometimes are just that, classics. Some of them are truly fantastic and worth the read.

Also there are a few other books that are truly worthwhile, for example ‘The Shadow Of The Wind’ and ‘The Book Thief’. Also there are some simply fantastic authors like Mitch Albom. All these books and authors I just mentioned are outside of my normal genres but their writings are absolutely fantastic. Both of the books I named I couldn’t put down whilst the author mentioned writes truly spectacular stories which can really make you think.

Now to all of you out there, I suggest you get reading. You won’t regret it.

Easy Thursday.

Well this post marks the end of my fully committed use of song names for my post titles. It was getting a tad restricting.

Hope you all enjoyed a bit of the comedy that is xkcd.

Children of the Grave.

Has anyone here seen “Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans”? I have.Overall the movie is good enough, I haven’t seen the other two movies (that supposedly happen after this one). It has some strange parts… strange in the sense that a vampire and a lycnathrope have *relations* basically on a cliff ledge. There’s a great part where you see the lycnathrope (called Lucian I think) hanging with half his back hanging over nothingness basically with only his female vampiric companion anchoring him to the ground. Unfortunately I couldn’t find pictures to explain this so you can just imagine it. Your welcome.

One complaint I do have about the move… the vampires sucked. Really they had nothing on the werewolves, they literally got ripped to shreds. I mean these vampires were at least better than the Twilight versions (Edward Cullen is a horrible vampire). A little sidetrack here, Twilight is ridiculous… basically the only vampire myth included is that they drink blood. They don’t get burnt by sunlight (instead they sparkle), they’re not really undead - in fact they’re basically human except they can play some powerful baseball and are pale. Go them.

Twilight

I miss the suave vampires of old, back when vampires were actually awesome. Rather than just being something for werewolves to rip apart or something for teenage girls everywhere to dream of. I mean seriously… why would you love a vampire? Vampires were originally myths based around dead bodies that murdered the living… in fact they used to be partially decomposed - quite different from the pale smooth Vampires of the modern era.

In a kind of conclusion here I have an offer. You see just the other day I went to an 18th party, the theme was fantasy and my costume was that of a vampire… there are pictures but you’ll only see them if at least three different people comment on this post (i’m not included as one of these people mind you). Why you want to see these pictures, well you probably don’t but if you pretend you do it will make me smile.

Valentine’s Day.

Well it’s valentines day again. A time for romance and love for so many - but is it really? I mean on valentines day everyone is expected to be romantic, yet isn’t a large part of romance spontaneity? Is it really so romantic if you do something when everyone expects you to, or is it more romantic when its unexpected? See valentines day is really just a day to give people roses (which im sure the industry loves).

Reading this I seem to come off as a bit of a cynic in regards to this topic. I guess I am though, you see im that guy that’s never really had anyone to share a valentines day with. Think of a child looking through a window at all the happy people together, if anything that child’s me. You hear all the people who say that single life is great, I just want to ask; how? Yea it may be easier and simpler but since when is easy and simple great? Easy and simple is boring. Easy and simple aren’t a challenge, they aren’t fun. (more…)

Jenny was a friend of mine.

“And of course, stability isn’t nearly so spectacular as instability.”

Mustapha Mond - Brave New World (By Aldous Huxley).

So I started with a quote. Every now and again I think I’ll chuck in a post or two where the focus is a quote from around the place…  think of it as something like Renal Failure’s Precious Encouragements. Except for the fact that I wont be as organised as that.

As my BS teacher used to say. Moving on.

The other day my blog had its buisest day (of real people) ever. A grand whopping twenty two views (make that twenty nine now). Beating the old record by four (eleven). Technically the day’s not over yet but it is pretty close so… go us. Also for those of you who are very observant, recently I added a new category titled “Blog Stuff” - it will cover news about this blog and possibly other blogging news and or help.

In other news anyone here like ‘The Killers’? If so you might recognise the title of this entry. Recently I’ve been slightly addicted to the song that is the title of this post and also ‘Mr. Brightside’. In my mind the two songs do fit together - in fact I think they’re two parts of the same story. You see this is how the study of English has ruined me. I now analyse the meaning of songs I like.

I’m sorry.

The boy who wanted to be a real puppet.

Once upon a time… there was a blog. It used to have a theme called “Mushblue” which was slightly painful to read due to the colour scheme. Then one day a magical thing happened. A new theme was born. This new theme was titled Aeros and it was already up to version 2.0! With such a high version number it was inevitable that Mushblue would be vanquished and cast out of the realm of Woi.

Aeros currently rules the kingdom of Woi, piloted by me - the hidden (and only) master of this temporal realm. If you would like to pick up the reins and share in the controlling of this place. Leave a comment - you see Woi needs more scribes.

On that note I propose a challenge - if you create an account and leave a comment letting me know you want to be an author of this blog (alongside me) I will change your account so you can create drafts. From here you can write a piece of writing and if its good I’ll put it on the blog under your name. After a couple of good posts I’ll let you ‘publish’ directly, with no need for me to approve the post first. Also you’ll get a blurb on the Authors page (plus all of your posts will have the written by *your title*, as well as the fact that you can have a link to your own website if you have one). Yes I know this isn’t really a challenge, more instructions.

Does it really matter, its not like anyone is going to say yes. Or will someone prove me wrong?

One day across the valley.

Well this title is still from a song… its just the songs gotten a lot more screwed up. Have any of you heard of a band called Teargas & Plateglass? Well this song is by them.

Anyhow. Onto what i was meaning to talk about. Have you ever noticed how life can be going so well and then some small and completely insignificant thing can happen and it makes you see grey? I’ve written at least two poems directly inspired by this very thing. In case you were wondering I wont go into details of why this is happening.

A small while ago I made a sort of joke that I couldn’t really write any decent poetry any more - because I wasn’t depressed enough. Makes me think of the saying ‘touch wood’ cause it sure would seem that I didn’t. Still my whole seeing grey is a lot better than seeing red (another topic I’ve written about) - and I do realise that my problems completely pale in respect to what other people have to face.

For example the bushfires in Victoria. Last I heard there’s meant to be 108 dead and over seven hundred and fifty homes lost. This isn’t the worst of it yet, the fires are still raging. So while I have to deal with my phantom issues people out there are dying and losing all of their possessions.

One small and simple thing could bring back the colour in my world, its not so easy for some of the others though.

View from heaven.

I was talking to someone the other day and they asked me how many people actually read my blog. The answer I gave them was basically, I really don’t know.

You see I rarely ever get comments, rarely do I get views of specific posts, instead I just get visits to my overall blog. The few registered users I have don’t ever do anything. So I keep writing as if they’res someone listening (theres at least one… otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this now, plus i’m pretty sure one of my friends reads my stuff every now and again).

Anyhow. If you do regularly read my blog… don’t be afraid to comment. I want to know your out there - makes it feel slightly less pointless.
