So today is the day. In a matter of hours I will be boarding a plane and flying away from Australia. Roughly twenty four hours later I will arrive in London.

I don’t know how often I will update this blog for the two months and a bit that I am gone, if I do have a chance I will try. That said it will probably be short just like this post. Blame my lack of commitment or the fact that writing a long post using an iPhone is slightly painful.

Right now I am exhausted. For some reason my body didn’t seem to want to sleep last night - until some time after four am. Then I had to wake up to go to work. On a sidetrack here, I am starting to think that you shouldn’t be allowed to work full time until at least the age of twenty one. Its just cruel.

Backtracking.

The most ridiculous part of my exhaustion is that by the time I am going to bed I will no longer be tired. Luckily for me I do have a day off tomorrow, always nice even if I do get bored sometimes. See I need things to do. Unfortunately the weather is unpredictable and my main and most easily accessible group of friends are mainly good for night time activities. Things during the daytime either need pre-planning or almost all of us there to be good. So I am mostly left to my own devices as they would say.

Now comes the part where I involve you my ever more silent audience - the few people who I sincerely hope are reading this. That said there has to be people seeing this as I get a rough five page views a day… averaged that is. That said a lot of them are thanks to google and one post in specific that I wrote a while back now. The point is I hope there is one or two steady readers. It would absolutely make my day if somebody left me a comment - please. I can keep talking to what feels like a darkened room but a response would always be nice.

In other news - I shall draw this post to an end. At the rate I am going I may even manage to have a new post tomorrow. I feel so proud of myself. Hurrah.

Over the last week or so I have noticed an increase in spam comments being left on my blog. Luckily wordpress has pretty fantasmic anti-spam (Akismet). So rather than having some twenty comments chock full of links and random sentences that don’t make sense… I have silence. In other news when I first started this blog I did a post which was very very loosely based around the idea of technopathy.

Since then I have occasionally had people find my blog while searching the internet on how to ‘technopathy’. You know what this means? People are actually trying to find out how they can magically interact with computers… by looking it up on a search engine. I imagine they would be mighty disappointed when they find my blog and the fact it offers absolutely no clues on how to talk to computers.

In other news.

Well I dont really have anything inspiring to say here. Life is quiet - nothing that I need to share as a cathartic measure to help myself. In reality this entry here isn’t so much out of wanting to write, or even having something to write… rather I am writing now as I need to keep this blog active.

Activity is important - convinces people that the blog isn’t dead. Which it isn’t.

Also - any people reading this that have blogs of their own. Are you interested in link sharing?

On the way into work today I had a really funny idea for a blog post. Predictably I can’t remember what the idea was any more - just how good it could have been. Joy. So instead of some humorous piece, you are all stuck with this (I should go more teenage angst just to kill all my self respect).

In other news, looking at all the blogs out there it really amazes me all the different styles. I mean you have the super personal blogs that basically list what they did during the day - then you have blogs which are completely fictitious. I try and find a happy middle ground to both of these. I don’t list out my life but I will write about my life in a way. My problems becomes yours as I write about my thoughts.

Originally I wanted to be a humour blog, I gave that up pretty quickly. See humour can be hard to write, I didn’t have the commitment to put in the effort. To have a satisfying blog I find I need to post regularly - otherwise I don’t get any views. See I can average 12 or so views a day (when I write every day or so). It’s not much but a lot better than when I only wrote once a week, or less.

Oh for those of you who say ‘it isn’t a popularity contest’, it isn’t. However what is the point of writing if no-one is going to read what you have written?

Well my blog was down for an unknown amount of time again today, this time not cause of my host - rather the company I registered my domain name with. Don’t quite know what went wrong but they seemed to think that my name server didn’t exist, or that it was changed. Ah well.

For all you people out there who want to start your own self hosted blog, my advice:

Don’t do it on the cheap. Get a decent webhost (more specifically one with charges). See free webhosts who don’t sell advertising… they aren’t exactly compelled to give the most reliable service. Getting a decent host will hopefully cut down the annoying things you have to deal with, like reatrded downtime and mysql server resets every hour (really why would you do this, it really frustrates me).

Hope all of you out there are having a good time. Also just so you know - I will attempt to write at least once every two days. Every now and again I will write every day for a little while. Once every thousand years I will do two posts in one day. You’ll know its apocalypse when I do three in one day.

Anyhoo. Sometimes it can be really hard to figure out just what to say. We may say the wrong thing, we may say the right thing. Depending on the time and the place it can be a big deal or not matter at all. Still life would be so much easier if we were just given that little bit more insight.

If we knew the ‘inside scoop’ so to say. We could comfort friends, get ourselves out of trouble, impress people and so much more. However life would lack excitement and adventure, there would be no real risk, no taking a chance. Despite how we can hate not knowing what to say, knowing what to say could be even worse.

Ah well. All I know is it would make my life a lot easier. How about you?

Well it seems that my blog and site where down for a couple of hours today. At least for me.

As far as I can tell it was just the server I was one, or it may simply have been my very dodgy internet. Still all is now well as you can see by the fact that I have written this post.
