Well it’s valentines day again. A time for romance and love for so many – but is it really? I mean on valentines day everyone is expected to be romantic, yet isn’t a large part of romance spontaneity? Is it really so romantic if you do something when everyone expects you to, or is it more romantic when its unexpected? See valentines day is really just a day to give people roses (which im sure the industry loves).

Reading this I seem to come off as a bit of a cynic in regards to this topic. I guess I am though, you see im that guy that’s never really had anyone to share a valentines day with. Think of a child looking through a window at all the happy people together, if anything that child’s me. You hear all the people who say that single life is great, I just want to ask; how? Yea it may be easier and simpler but since when is easy and simple great? Easy and simple is boring. Easy and simple aren’t a challenge, they aren’t fun.

Then there’s the people who enjoy the single life cause they are free to flirt and do whatever they want. That’s all well and good but do you really just want a whole heap of meaningless ‘hook-ups’ or would you want something more permanent and meaningful? Then again in all this I’m talking from my side of the wall, back when I was in school there was a club born more out of a joke than anything else. You see this was the ‘never had a girlfriend’ club, quite a few members actually. You see I’ve never really experienced what its like to be in a relationship, I don’t know the challenges and problems.

So to all my readers out there, what do you think? Can you lend a viewpoint form the other side of the wall. Whats it like to be in a relationship on valentines day? Or if thats not you whats it like in your experience, whatever that experience may be? Also an imaginary pat on the back to whoever knows the band that made the song that is my blog title… if you look it up then you don’t get the imaginary pat on the back.
