The Movies.

Category: Life, Movies

The other night the film King Arthur was on TV. I was watching it like your average movie watcher and I started thinking… why is life always more spectacular in the films? Where are all those meaningful moments and beautiful people that are constantly plastered into the minds of anybody who watches a movie?

I want to see a movie which accurately depicts real life. Not some fanciful world that isn’t real… You know the reason why no movies like that are made? Cause nobody wants to pay money to see what they already have. They want to escape. Into someone else’s world and life, where they aren’t just normal. They want a life where they could be Keira Knightley (Wonderfully mysterious ‘pagan’ local who Arthur rescues… turns out she’s some kick ass warrior as well) or Clive Owen (Arthur in this case), mixed in with an amazing plot and true love.

Where does this leave us? Lusting after some world that isn’t real with characters who don’t exist. I know for me I see just how great the difference is between my world and that of the cinema. I don’t have artificial lighting, lines, make-up and as far as I know no destiny to rule England.

Then I wonder what life would be like if I was one of those actors who got to immerse themselves in this magical other world. I’m sure to them a lot of the magic has been lost. The smooth scenes we see can be quite difficult, long and painful to make. Or so my knowledge of cinematography (which isn’t a lot) would tell me.

Ah well. Now that you’ve heard my rant and seen a little preview into what makes me tick. Now I’m just going to go off and dream a life between me as Arthur and Guinevere (Keira Kinightley).

I promise you I’m really not that weird, really I’m not…
