It's trash-talking. It works especially against those who brag how good they are. I had an interesting situation. On my team three were ragequitting. And the host started to brag about it. I told my teammate to ignore him. After a while I told the host the truth about people like him, and got so annoyed he chased us both to the fountain. With the help of the fountain, we (the two of us remaining) managed marginally to kill a team of 3. Then the host ragequitted after saying something like "I'm still good". Anyway, on pubbies trash-talking is rarely used, because it may force many people to ragequit. And we don't want that. My remaining team consisted of Nerub (me) and Medusa. The other team was Pudge (the host), Huskar (well-fed, 3 level above us, like 16 or so), Puck (easy meal for me), and Techies. How do you make someone ragequit? It’s trash-talking.
